Over $1 billion in jackpots available for Mega Millions and Powerball players

Both Mega Millions and Powerball continue to climb as the two jackpots total over $1 billion this weekend.

A winner in tonight’s Mega Millions drawing would have the choice of taking home the $604 million jackpot as an annuity or $266.3 million in cash.

A winner in Saturday’s Powerball drawing would have the choice of taking home the $457 million jackpot as an annuity or $205 million in cash.

Even though both jackpots are still on a roll, players are taking home lots of other prizes playing Mega Millions and Powerball. Tuesday’s Mega Millions drawing produced over 10,400 winning tickets in North Carolina. Wednesday’s Powerball drawing saw over 16,200 winning tickets.

The odds of winning a Mega Millions jackpot are 1 in 290 million. The odds of winning a Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292 million.

Players can buy Mega Millions or Powerball tickets at any lottery retail location or through Online Play on the lottery’s website, www.laosamayor.com, or with the NC Lottery Official Mobile App.

It's the stereotypical summer jackpot run-up. Rigged to draw more players in and then the wnner is predetermined. When will the government have the lotteries stop cheating the public?
